Hui Aloha ʻĀina o ka Malu ʻUlu o Lele, first organized in March 1893 as a district branch of Hui Aloha ʻĀina, and it was officially reorganized on May 30, 2019 in Lahaina, Maui.

Hui ʻĀloha ʻĀina o ka Malu ʻUlu o Lele was harshly affected by the 2023 Lahaina fire, and as a result of the recovery effort, is not fully functioning and is unable to welcome new members at this time.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. To provide education and assistance in returning kānaka to ʻāina, kai and wai with a focus on kuleana lands, allodial title, The Great Māhele, water rights, ua koe ke kuleana o nā kanaka (reserving the rights of native tenants), related civil rights, and to protect and restore the covenant of the Kānāwai of Ko Hawaiʻi Pae ‘Āina;
  2. To mālama i nā kūpuna hiamoe loa, including assisting in the repatriation of iwi kūpuna, and protection and restoration of ancient burial sites, not limited to ‘āina and kai;
  3. To educate on the history of Lahaina from time of the Kumulipo, throughout Lahaina’s significance as the nation’s capital, to the present;
  4. To revitalize the national language of Ko Hawaiʻi Pae ʻĀina;
  5. To educate on traditional protocol; and
  6. To affirm the continuity of Hawaiian independence and to protect our ʻāina, kai and wai forever.
